คนที่เป็นธาตุน้ำต้องรู้จักช่วยเหลือคนอื่นเพื่อให้คนเหล่านั้นเห็นคุณค่าของน้ำ
- วงจรชีวิตของธาตุน้ำเกิดในฤดูใบไม้ร่วง (ผลิตโดยธาตุเหล็ก);
- หน้าหนาวคือฤดูของธาตุน้ำ แต่ไม่ได้แปลว่าธาตุน้ำจะได้ดีในหน้าหนาวเพราะในหน้าหนาวน้ำจะเย็นและกลายเป็นน้ำแข็งที่ไม่มีคุณค่า,น้ำที่เกิดในหน้าหนาวจึงต้องการธาตุไฟเพื่อละลายน้ำแข็งและสามารถแสดงคุณค่าของธาตุน้ำได้เต็มประสิทธิภาพ
- น้ำแข็งละลายในฤดูใบไม้ผลิ ทำให้น้ำมีคุณค่าและสามารถล่อเลี้ยงต้นไม้ให้เจริญเติบโต, ธาตุน้ำจึงมีคุณค่าที่สุดในฤดูใบไม้ผลิ
- น้ำจะอ่อนแอที่สุในหน้าร้อนเพราะความร้อนทำให้น้ำระเหย

Earth impedes the flow of water, hence generally incompatible, except for a brief period in early Winter when some earth is needed to channel (manage) the copious water flow.

Compatible, but less so in Autumn when wood declines and is unable to absorb water (rot).

Contrary to popular notion, fire is not hostile to water. In fact, water needs fire in Winter and early Spring to thaw and become useful. Winter water without fire will be quite useless. Compatible.

Metal
Although metal produces water, uncontrolled production has undesirable effects (floods). Moreover, metal will sink (drown) in the water it produces. Hence incompatible.
