Life can be like “Snakes & Ladders”!
Life choices (be they good or bad) may cause you to move up or slide down the ladder of life. Opportunities, good study (qualifications) and persistence can move you up the ladder, sometimes at a lightning pace to achieve your career goal.

There is a school of thought that there is “no right or wrong decision” about your job choices. To some extent this may be true because each step in our working life can provide positive work experiences, practical life skills and character building attributes; all of these things add up and are transferrable to various and changing career paths as we move through life.

In today’s fast changing world, it may be that in the near future you may end up in a job that does not exist today! Or you feel that the career you really want is beyond your grasp because of the cost of study or other life obstacles blocking your path.

Life sometimes has compromises, which cause deviations or delay in where we want to head i.e. trying to “find your groove”,  that role in life you really want to do is another matter from what you do now, it all seems very elusive!

Being human, we take on external influences, advice, and criticism. We grow in our own way and change as we move through life. Each change may alter our perspective, principles, values and motivations on what we want to become in our life. Even life events such as serious illness or winning the lottery will have a notable impact on our future and work choices; again it could be good or bad.

The path to the right career may be chequered by negative events such as: wasted time and effort, financial loss, impact on your self-esteem and perhaps a feeling of failure and overall unhappiness.

We can only claw back from “perceived bad choices” if we have come to a point where we believe we now have clarified the right career path; and only then apply our energies to building a real career, which can bestow job satisfaction, financial reward and perhaps a life-long path leading to greater achievements, or simply just financial stability and happiness as one’s lot in life.
