ไฟไม่มีร่างกลายหรือสรีระ ไฟจำเป็นต้องเผาบางสิ่งบางอย่าง ถ้าไม่มีสิ่งเผาไฟจะมอดดับลง
- วงจรชีวิตธาตุไฟเริ่มในฤดูใบไม้ผลิ (ผลิตโดยธาตุไม้)
- ธาตุไฟรุ่งโรจน์และแรงที่สุดในฤดูร้อน
- ไฟอ่อนแรงในฤดูใบไม้ร่วงเพราะมีไม้น้อยและเหล็กแข็งแกร่ง ทำให้ธาตุไฟในหน้าฤดูใบไม่ร่วงเบาบางและอ่อนแอ
- ไฟมอดดับลงในฟดูหนาว

Compatible, but tends to be excessive, strong, turbulent and unmanageable.

Earth impedes the flow of water, hence generally incompatible, except for a brief period in early Winter when some earth is needed to channel (manage) the copious water flow.

Compatible, but less so in Autumn when wood declines and is unable to absorb water (rot).

Contrary to popular notion, fire is not hostile to water. In fact, water needs fire in Winter and early Spring to thaw and become useful. Winter water without fire will be quite useless. Compatible.

Metal
Although metal produces water, uncontrolled production has undesirable effects (floods). Moreover, metal will sink (drown) in the water it produces. Hence incompatible.
